CompanionIndex

Editorial Policy

CompanionIndex separates sourced product facts, editorial analysis, and commercial configuration so readers can understand the basis and status of every published conclusion.

How We Review

Product profiles begin with documented sources and verification dates. A Review is a separate editorial record and is not published until its scope, author, review date, methodology, findings, and limitations are complete.

Testing Principles

Products should be evaluated using consistent tasks and criteria appropriate to the claim being assessed. Editors must distinguish observed behavior from vendor documentation, record material limitations, and avoid claiming hands-on testing that did not occur.

Scoring Philosophy

CompanionIndex does not manufacture scores to complete a template. A score remains empty until a documented editorial evaluation supports it. Editorial scores are not user ratings and do not represent a universal judgment for every reader.

Updates and Verification

Product facts can change. Records retain a last-verified date, while Reviews, Comparisons, Categories, and Rankings retain update dates. Material corrections should update the affected evidence, copy, and date before republication.

Affiliate Relationship

Commercial participation is configured separately from editorial content. An affiliate relationship cannot guarantee coverage, favorable language, a score, a comparison outcome, or ranking placement. Active commercial links are disclosed and marked as sponsored.
